Pour la premi\u00e8re fois, l\u2019humain a r\u00e9ussi \u00e0 fabriquer de l\u2019oxyg\u00e8ne n\u00e9cessaire \u00e0 sa survie sur une autre plan\u00e8te.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le rover&nbsp;<strong>Perseverance<\/strong>&nbsp;a d\u00e9ploy\u00e9 un module appel\u00e9&nbsp;<strong>MOXIE<\/strong>&nbsp;(Mars Oxygen In-Situ Resource Utilization Experiment). Cette petite boite dor\u00e9e de&nbsp;<strong>17&nbsp;kilos<\/strong>&nbsp;est parvenue \u00e0 transformer du&nbsp;<strong>dioxyde de carbone<\/strong>&nbsp;(CO2) issu de l\u2019atmosph\u00e8re de Mars en&nbsp;<strong>oxyg\u00e8ne<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Durant ce premier test,&nbsp;<strong>5,4 g d\u2019oxyg\u00e8ne<\/strong>&nbsp;ont \u00e9t\u00e9 cr\u00e9\u00e9s en une heure, soit suffisamment pour faire respirer un&nbsp;<strong>astronaute<\/strong>&nbsp;durant<strong>&nbsp;10 minutes<\/strong>.&nbsp;<strong>MOXIE<\/strong>&nbsp;a la capacit\u00e9 de produire jusqu\u2019\u00e0&nbsp;<strong>12 g d\u2019oxyg\u00e8ne \u00e0 l\u2019heure<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cette avanc\u00e9e technologique permet d\u2019entrevoir la colonisation de Mars avec beaucoup plus de facilit\u00e9. Il est ainsi possible d\u2019imaginer que les futurs astronautes de la NASA pourront cr\u00e9er de l\u2019oxyg\u00e8ne sur place, plut\u00f4t que de devoir en transporter de grandes quantit\u00e9s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Selon les ing\u00e9nieurs du&nbsp;<strong>Massachusetts Institute of Technology<\/strong>&nbsp;(MIT) qui ont con\u00e7u&nbsp;<strong>MOXIE<\/strong>, un tel \u00e9quipement, mais plus imposant, comme&nbsp;<strong>une tonne&nbsp;<\/strong>par exemple, pourrait produire quelque&nbsp;<strong>25&nbsp;tonnes d\u2019oxyg\u00e8ne<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>L\u2019atmosph\u00e8re<\/strong>&nbsp;de&nbsp;<strong>Mars<\/strong>&nbsp;est compos\u00e9e \u00e0&nbsp;<strong>96&nbsp;%<\/strong>&nbsp;de&nbsp;<strong>dioxyde de carbone<\/strong>&nbsp;(CO2).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>MOXIE<\/strong>\u00a0est donc la deuxi\u00e8me grande r\u00e9ussite de la\u00a0<strong>NASA<\/strong>\u00a0avec le rover\u00a0<strong>Perseverance<\/strong>\u00a0depuis son arriv\u00e9e sur la plan\u00e8te rouge en f\u00e9vrier dernier.
