
{"id":2961,"date":"2022-06-02T08:56:38","date_gmt":"2022-06-02T06:56:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/parlonstechs.com\/all\/?p=2961"},"modified":"2022-06-02T08:56:38","modified_gmt":"2022-06-02T06:56:38","slug":"smic-permet-a-la-chine-de-graver-des-puces-en-7-nm-avec-une-technique-a-lancienne","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/parlonstechs.com\/all\/2022\/06\/02\/smic-permet-a-la-chine-de-graver-des-puces-en-7-nm-avec-une-technique-a-lancienne\/","title":{"rendered":"SMIC permet \u00e0 la Chine de graver des puces en 7 nm avec une technique \u00ab \u00e0 l&rsquo;ancienne \u00bb"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.globaltimes.cn\/Portals\/0\/attachment\/2020\/2020-09-27\/4d381e88-ea4e-42c2-9f7b-c5e1b2f55447.jpeg\" alt=\"Chinese chip maker SMIC sees strong growth in 2020 despite COVID-19 and US  crackdown: annual report - Global Times\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size\"><strong>Priv\u00e9 des machines EUV pour cause de sanctions am\u00e9ricaines, le chinois SMIC a r\u00e9ussi \u00e0 briser la barri\u00e8re des 14 nm et \u00e0 produire, comme TSMC en son temps, des puces 7 nm en utilisant ses machines DUV classiques.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Selon une feuille de route obtenue par des analystes, le champion chinois des semi-conducteurs SMIC devrait graver ses premi\u00e8res puces en 7 nm dans le courant de l\u2019ann\u00e9e, ce alors que les machines \u00e0 ultraviolets extr\u00eames d\u2019ASML lui sont toujours interdites par le gouvernement am\u00e9ricain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Alors que SMIC n\u2019a jamais autant gagn\u00e9 d\u2019argent depuis les sanctions de l\u2019administration Trump, l\u2019entreprise phare de la production de puces sur le territoire&nbsp;chinois a r\u00e9ussi \u00e0 industrialiser un process de production en 7 nm sans utiliser d\u2019EUV.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Point de magie ici&nbsp;: SMIC a suivi la m\u00eame voie que TSMC, qui n\u2019a utilis\u00e9 que des machines classiques DUV (Deep Ultraviolet, les ultraviolets profonds) pour sa premi\u00e8re g\u00e9n\u00e9ration de puces en 7 nm (2018). Cela reste un exploit puisqu\u2019il s\u2019agit tout de m\u00eame de graver des circuits de 7 nm avec un \u00ab&nbsp;rayon&nbsp;laser&nbsp;\u00bb de 193 nm (!), mais&nbsp;TSMC a prouv\u00e9 que cela est possible et potentiellement rentable\u2026 quand on ma\u00eetrise parfaitement les outils.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"continueReadBreak\">Car l\u2019usage du DUV pour graver des puces aussi fines impose bien plus d\u2019op\u00e9rations (plus de masques, plus de passages dans la machine, plus de bains chimiques). Cet allongement du temps de production peut entra\u00eener une baisse des rendements, chaque op\u00e9ration suppl\u00e9mentaire repr\u00e9sentant un risque d\u2019erreur (de gravure, de d\u00e9p\u00f4t chimique, etc).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/mma.prnewswire.com\/media\/1313202\/VCG111297894040.jpg?w=500\" alt=\"Le g\u00e9ant chinois de la fabrication de puces SMIC r\u00e9alise une perc\u00e9e dans la  conception de son proc\u00e9d\u00e9 N+1\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">La Chine travaille dans l&rsquo;ombre<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Si SMIC arrive \u00e0 produire en volume, la Chine va pouvoir profiter d\u2019un joli bond en termes de production domestique, l\u2019entreprise \u00e9tant jusque-l\u00e0 limit\u00e9e \u00e0 de la production 14 nm de masse \u2013 et du 8 nm exp\u00e9rimental ou \u00e0 faibles volumes.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Comme le note Seeking Alpha, qui consacre un long article au d\u00e9veloppement du 7 nm par SMIC, si les donn\u00e9es qui viennent de filtrer permettent de d\u00e9terminer quel est le node et les m\u00e9thodologies de production du chinois, on ne sait pas grand-chose de ce qui s\u2019est pass\u00e9 entre d\u00e9but 2020 et cette mi-2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Apr\u00e8s les sanctions am\u00e9ricaines, SMIC a cess\u00e9 de donner des d\u00e9tails sur les technologies employ\u00e9es \u2013 notamment donner le d\u00e9tail par node de production \u2013 par craintes de r\u00e9percussions am\u00e9ricaines. Les Am\u00e9ricains contr\u00f4lent plus ou moins toute la cha\u00eene des semi-conducteurs par le biais de brevets, ce qui leur permet par exemple\u00a0d\u2019interdire au n\u00e9erlandais ASML d\u2019exporter ses machines vers la Chine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Un progr\u00e8s qui profite \u00e0 la Chine\u2026 et aux entreprises occidentales<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Selon toute vraisemblance, le proc\u00e9d\u00e9 N+2 de SMIC est bien une gravure 7 nm DUV dont on ne sait rien des performances \u2013 et l\u2019exemple des 4 nm de Samsung et de celui de TSMC montrent&nbsp;que tous les process ne sont pas \u00e9gaux \u2013 ni les rendements. Mais cela&nbsp;a comme vertu pour la Chine de disposer d\u2019un proc\u00e9d\u00e9 avanc\u00e9 sans avoir \u00e0 gratter du c\u00f4t\u00e9 de TMSC, notamment pour des puces souveraines (milieux du renseignement, de l\u2019espace et de la d\u00e9fense).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Et quand bien m\u00eame toutes entreprises sont interdites de vendre leurs technologies EUV \u00e0 la Chine, le monde des puces a toujours (pour le moment) la possibilit\u00e9&nbsp;de fournir SMIC en \u00e9quipement DUV.
