Il y a longtemps que nous n’avions pas entendu de nouvelles d’Uber Elevate, le service de taxis volants de l’entreprise de VTC. Alors que les premiers taxis devaient \u00eatre d\u00e9ploy\u00e9s en 2023, la firme serait en passe de vendre sa division \u00e0 Joby Aviation, selon des informations obtenues par Axios.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finalement, c’est fait ! Joby Aviation a officialis\u00e9, le mardi 8 d\u00e9cembre, avoir fait l’acquisition de la division Uber Elevate, sp\u00e9cialis\u00e9e dans les technologies a\u00e9riennes, dont les taxis volants. L’entreprise californienne a accept\u00e9 de d\u00e9bourser les 75 millions de dollars suppl\u00e9mentaires r\u00e9clam\u00e9s, portant son investissement dans l’entreprise \u00e0 125 millions de dollars. \u00ab Cet accord nous permet d’approfondir notre partenariat avec Joby, le leader incontest\u00e9 dans ce domaine, pour acc\u00e9l\u00e9rer la mise sur le march\u00e9 de ces technologies <\/em>\u00bb a r\u00e9agi Dara Khosrowshahi, le patron d’Uber.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Joby, qui d\u00e9veloppe des avions \u00e9lectriques, mettra \u00e0 profit l’acquisition des technologies d’Uber Elevate pour permettre \u00e0 la start-up am\u00e9ricaine de proposer des trajets en taxi volant, depuis l’application Uber directement. La mise en service des appareils est toujours pr\u00e9vue pour 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Un accord serait en train d’\u00eatre sign\u00e9 et pourrait \u00eatre annonc\u00e9 d\u00e8s le mois prochain. Joby Aviation est une start-up am\u00e9ricaine sp\u00e9cialis\u00e9e dans les v\u00e9hicules a\u00e9riens personnels (VTOL) qui a r\u00e9cemment lev\u00e9 plusieurs centaines de millions de dollars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Un accord en passe d’\u00eatre annonc\u00e9<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Selon des sources internes du m\u00e9dia am\u00e9ricain Axios, Uber serait en cours de vente de sa division Elevate \u00e0 la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 a\u00e9rospatiale am\u00e9ricaine Joby Aviation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Uber Elevate est un projet d\u00e9velopp\u00e9 en interne depuis plusieurs ann\u00e9es, qui revient r\u00e9guli\u00e8rement sur le devant de la sc\u00e8ne au fur et \u00e0 mesure des annonces. En 2019, c’est l’\u00e9v\u00e9nement\u00a0Elevate Summit<\/strong>\u00a0qui avait fait parler de lui, avec notamment l’annonce d’un d\u00e9ploiement des premiers taxis pilotes en 2023 dans plusieurs villes am\u00e9ricaines (Los Angeles, Dallas) et en Australie (Melbourne).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Selon Axios, Uber, qui veut combler ses pertes, cherche un acheteur depuis un moment. Joby Aviation serait en train de racheter le programme. Cette start-up am\u00e9ricaine, qui d\u00e9veloppe un service similaire \u00e0 Elevate, a lev\u00e9 en janvier dernier plus de 590 millions de dollars, notamment aupr\u00e8s de firmes comme Toyota, Intel et JetBlue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
