Mais que savez-vous vraiment de son sens et de son histoire ?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le terme \u00ab\u00a0quantique\u00a0\u00bb est tr\u00e8s pr\u00e9sent dans l\u2019actualit\u00e9, entre la\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencesetavenir.fr\/fondamental\/direct-suivez-la-remise-du-prix-nobel-de-physique-2022_166771\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">remise du prix Nobel \u00e0 Alain Aspect<\/a>\u00a0et la course technologique en information quantique\u2026 L\u2019usage de ce mot remonte en fait \u00e0 l\u2019aube du XX<sup>e<\/sup>\u00a0si\u00e8cle, avec le d\u00e9veloppement de la m\u00e9canique ou\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.editions-ellipses.fr\/accueil\/9932-la-mecanique-quantique-sans-douleur-9782729886004.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">physique quantique<\/a>\u00a0qui initia une v\u00e9ritable r\u00e9volution du savoir et dont les cons\u00e9quences ne sont pas encore \u00e9puis\u00e9es. On parle aujourd\u2019hui de logique, hasard,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/theconversation.com\/dossier-la-course-a-lordinateur-et-aux-communications-quantiques-196837\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">cryptographie, intrication, ordinateur quantiques<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Une origine latine d\u00e9signant un comptage<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Venant du latin \u00ab\u00a0quantum\u00a0\u00bb (pluriel \u00ab\u00a0quanta\u00a0\u00bb) qui signifie \u00ab\u00a0combien\u00a0\u00bb, l\u2019adjectif \u00ab\u00a0quantique\u00a0\u00bb \u00e9voque un comptage et, en pratique, un quantum de mati\u00e8re ou d\u2019\u00e9nergie correspondra \u00e0 un grain \u00e9l\u00e9mentaire, ins\u00e9cable. La m\u00e9canique quantique est la th\u00e9orie qui d\u00e9crit l\u2019\u00e9volution des ph\u00e9nom\u00e8nes dans le monde de l\u2019infiniment petit, celui des particules \u00e9l\u00e9mentaires.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le terme quanta fut d\u2019abord introduit par Max Planck. En 1900, il \u00e9met l\u2019hypoth\u00e8se que les \u00e9changes d\u2019\u00e9nergie, par exemple entre un proton et un \u00e9lectron, se font non pas contin\u00fbment, mais par petites quantit\u00e9s discr\u00e8tes. Ses travaux analysaient le rayonnement du\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/fr.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Corps_noir\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">corps noir<\/a>, une cavit\u00e9 chauff\u00e9e emplie de gaz qui \u00e9met de la lumi\u00e8re. Le spectre lumineux observ\u00e9 n\u2019\u00e9tait pas continu, mais compos\u00e9 d\u2019un ensemble de raies de fr\u00e9quences (ou couleurs) bien d\u00e9finies, et chaque \u00e9l\u00e9ment chimique se caract\u00e9risait par un spectre sp\u00e9cifique. \u00c0 partir de cette id\u00e9e,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nobelprize.org\/prizes\/physics\/1922\/bohr\/biographical\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Niels Bohr<\/a>\u00a0con\u00e7ut le mod\u00e8le plan\u00e9taire de l\u2019atome dans lequel les \u00e9lectrons tournent autour du noyau sur des orbites d\u2019\u00e9nergies quantifi\u00e9es.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La physique classique pr\u00e9dit exactement la trajectoire d\u2019un objet d\u00e9crit par des positions et des vitesses bien d\u00e9finies. En physique quantique, on ne sait que calculer des probabilit\u00e9s de r\u00e9alisation parmi une infinit\u00e9 de trajectoires possibles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"432\" src=\"https:\/\/parlonstechs.com\/all\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/image-13.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4324\" srcset=\"https:\/\/parlonstechs.com\/all\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/image-13.png 768w, https:\/\/parlonstechs.com\/all\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/image-13-300x169.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Une confirmation d\u00e9cisive vint en 1905 quand Einstein interpr\u00e9ta&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/uel.unisciel.fr\/chimie\/strucmic\/strucmic_ch01\/co\/apprendre_ch1_22.html\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">l\u2019effet photo\u00e9lectrique<\/a>. Une plaque m\u00e9tallique illumin\u00e9e peut produire de l\u2019\u00e9lectricit\u00e9. L\u2019intensit\u00e9 de la lumi\u00e8re n\u2019est pas le crit\u00e8re n\u00e9cessaire, en revanche la couleur est cruciale&nbsp;: l\u2019effet n\u2019appara\u00eet qu\u2019avec des raies de haute fr\u00e9quence. Einstein imagina la lumi\u00e8re compos\u00e9e d\u2019un flux d\u2019objets \u00e9l\u00e9mentaires qu\u2019il appelle photons, chacun portant, selon l\u2019hypoth\u00e8se de Planck, une \u00e9nergie qui d\u00e9pend de la fr\u00e9quence&nbsp;: E = hf, E d\u00e9signe l\u2019\u00e9nergie et f la fr\u00e9quence, h \u00e9tant une grandeur physique universelle appel\u00e9e constante de Planck.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ainsi, l\u2019effet s\u2019expliquait comme une collision entre les \u00e9lectrons du m\u00e9tal et les photons de lumi\u00e8re incidente. Une \u00e9nergie minimum est n\u00e9cessaire pour extraire les \u00e9lectrons de la plaque, ce que permettent les photons bleus plus \u00e9nergiques, mais pas les rouges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">La nature de la lumi\u00e8re : onde ou flux ?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Interpr\u00e9ter la lumi\u00e8re comme un flux de quanta amenait \u00e0 un dilemme. La nature de la lumi\u00e8re avait \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9battue depuis le XVII<sup>e<\/sup>&nbsp;si\u00e8cle entre la vision granulaire de Newton et celle ondulatoire de Huyghens. Avec les&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/uel.unisciel.fr\/physique\/vibrapropa\/vibrapropa_ch02\/co\/apprendre_ch2_02.html\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">\u00e9quations de Maxwell<\/a>, la nature d\u2019onde semblait d\u00e9finitivement av\u00e9r\u00e9e. Apr\u00e8s 1905, la \u00ab&nbsp;quantification de la lumi\u00e8re&nbsp;\u00bb revenait avec force.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Alors, la lumi\u00e8re est-elle une onde ou un flux de corpuscules&nbsp;? Les deux, voil\u00e0 la surprenante r\u00e9ponse. C\u2019est la fameuse dualit\u00e9 onde-corpuscule qui admet deux facettes de la r\u00e9alit\u00e9&nbsp;: la lumi\u00e8re interagit sous forme de photons, mais elle se propage sous forme d\u2019onde. Et cela est g\u00e9n\u00e9ral&nbsp;: les \u00e9lectrons eux-m\u00eames peuvent se comporter comme une onde.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cela am\u00e8ne \u00e0 des cons\u00e9quences qui peuvent choquer le bon sens, remettant en cause le d\u00e9terminisme classique. En particulier,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/fr.khanacademy.org\/science\/physics\/quantum-physics\/quantum-numbers-and-orbitals\/v\/heisenberg-uncertainty-principle\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Heisenberg<\/a>\u00a0\u00e9crivit ses relations d\u2019incertitudes qui nous enseignent qu\u2019il est impossible de conna\u00eetre pr\u00e9cis\u00e9ment la position et la vitesse d\u2019une particule.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"434\" src=\"https:\/\/parlonstechs.com\/all\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/image-14.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4325\" srcset=\"https:\/\/parlonstechs.com\/all\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/image-14.png 768w, https:\/\/parlonstechs.com\/all\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/image-14-300x170.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>L\u2019une des cons\u00e9quences les plus troublantes se r\u00e9v\u00e8le avec l\u2019intrication, honor\u00e9e par le prix Nobel 2022. La fonction qui repr\u00e9sente une particule est non locale, elle n\u2019est pas limit\u00e9e \u00e0 un point et ceci permet qu\u2019une interaction en un endroit se r\u00e9percute instantan\u00e9ment en d\u2019autres endroits, ce qui semble contredire la relativit\u00e9 qui limite la vitesse de propagation de toute information. Ceci est v\u00e9rifi\u00e9 par l\u2019exp\u00e9rience de deux photons produits simultan\u00e9ment qui \u00ab&nbsp;communiquent&nbsp;\u00bb m\u00eame s\u00e9par\u00e9s par plusieurs kilom\u00e8tres.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>De nombreuses technologies d\u00e9coulent de la&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/editions.flammarion.com\/bienvenue-dans-la-nouvelle-revolution-quantique\/9782080270405\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">physique quantique<\/a>&nbsp;: l\u2019\u00e9nergie nucl\u00e9aire autant par fission que par fusion, le microscope \u00e9lectronique, le laser, les transistors et autres circuits imprim\u00e9s\u2026 La m\u00e9decine lui est redevable de l\u2019imagerie par r\u00e9sonance magn\u00e9tique, la radioth\u00e9rapie.
