James Arthur Gosling est n\u00e9 le 19 mai 1965 au Canada, dans la ville de Calgary. L’homme est aujourd’hui principalement connu pour avoir cr\u00e9\u00e9 le langage et la machine virtuelle Java<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Les d\u00e9buts de Java<\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

\u00c0 l’universit\u00e9, il cr\u00e9e les pr\u00e9mices d’une machine virtuelle capable d’ex\u00e9cuter sur un ordinateur de la marque VAX du code informatique non pr\u00e9vu pour ce dernier. Cela permettait notamment \u00e0 son professeur d’utiliser des programmes \u00e9crit en Pascal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ces travaux ont ensuite donn\u00e9 naissance \u00e0 un projet de plus grande envergure : le langage Java<\/a><\/strong>. Java est un \u00e9l\u00e9ment important de l’informatique puisque le code con\u00e7u dans ce langage de programmation est ex\u00e9cut\u00e9 au sein d’une machine virtuelle, ind\u00e9pendamment du syst\u00e8me d’exploitation. En d’autres termes, il est possible de d\u00e9ployer une m\u00eame application sur diff\u00e9rents syst\u00e8mes, qu’il s’agisse de Windows, macOS ou Linux.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

La carri\u00e8re de James Arthur Gosling<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

James Gosling a travaill\u00e9 sur Java au sein de Sun Microsystems, une entreprise dans laquelle il a pass\u00e9 la plupart de sa carri\u00e8re. Il y est rest\u00e9 26 ans, de 1984 \u00e0 2010. En 2002, Le magazine The Economis<\/em>t lui d\u00e9livre le prix de l’innovation. En 2010, Oracle, co-fond\u00e9e par Larry Ellison<\/a>, rach\u00e8te Sun Microsystems. James Gostling se montre critique envers Oracle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Il reconna\u00eet toutefois qu’Oracle a eu raison de poursuivre Google en justice pour violation de propri\u00e9t\u00e9 intellectuelle. Le g\u00e9ant de la recherche est en effet accus\u00e9 d’avoir fond\u00e9 son syst\u00e8me mobile Android sur du code prot\u00e9g\u00e9 sans autorisation de la part de Sun Microsystems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Toutefois, en mars 2011 James Gosling rejoint Google durant 6 mois avant d’int\u00e9grer Liquid Robotics. Apr\u00e8s l’acquisition de cette derni\u00e8re par Boeing, il est embauch\u00e9 par la division Web Services d’Amazon au printemps 2017.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
